Moving Tips

Moving can be hard or easy depending how you look at it. Actually, depending on how you actually prepare for it. It also depends on whether a moving company like Orange County Best Movers. With us, we make sure we have the best moving rates around and even offer packing and unpacking services.

Here we will give you guidance from us--the pros as to what the most important things you need to do with your move. Not just your belongings but your organizational skills as well. You need to best put those to work here while participating in one of the most stressful events in life--moving.

  • Think Ahead: Make sure you have all the little things that may give you aggravation.  Make sure you sit down a week to ten days out and think of things you may have to do or shop for. One of the most important things you'll have to do is to change your address. Make sure you've accounted for the ten days to two weeks it can take to get you changed up.

  • Pack a Bag: If you're going to work the next day or you are too tired or too busy to unpack you'll want to have the essentials with you so you are not caught out without them. It's so frustrating--especially when you have done the packing yourself and have a million boxes to look through before you miss that one essential item. You also don't want to have to spend out on the small stuff like a tooth brush when you have a brand new electric toothbrush you just bought! Make sure if you are returning to work you have a change of clothes and undies to boot! Make sure you have work shoes as well as casuals. You don't want to get caught out at home having to wear a suite and work shoes through dinner when you just want to relax.

  • Buy a few clear plastic tubs: You can find these for between 5-10 dollars at any Walmart or Target. The things you will need to get to first you should pack or have us pack in these. This way, you can clearly see what you need and where it is for easy access.

  • Don't want to pay for bubble wrap? Then wrap some of your things in clothing you don't care that much about or that you were going to throw out.

  • Purge: That leads us to this tip. Purge what you need to or want to now. Give it to charity or a friend and sell what you can get something for. You can certainly use the room and maybe even a little cash. Here is a good rule of thumb. If it's not seasonal and you haven't used it in 6 months then go for it!

  • Got Clean Socks? Put them to work and use them to pack your stemware!

  • Label Correctly: Make sure you are labeling your boxes right. When we do it we count the number of each room as well as contents and room name. For example--bedroom #2 linens. This makes things so much easier than would be if you have to open boxes to see under all the wrapping, what's in it!
